I don’t consider myself a poet but some things, emotions particularly, seem more accessible when I let the words flow freely and simply. I wrote this poem about guilt last year. Guilt is an emotion I strenuously fought against but I encountered it full-force when I stopped working. Happily, a year later I’m more at peace with where my life is so the ugly parasite guilt doesn’t get me down as often anymore.

Your insights are refreshing. Your poem, Gullt strikes all the various emotions for me,too.

Thanks so much, Jill. I figured that described it pretty well, glad you thought so too. Not happy you can relate, but really glad you can, if you know what I mean. 😉

I too resonate with the words you’ve used in ‘Guilt’ Amanda. I struggled through the same feelings when I stopped working full time to follow my passion of photography. It wasn’t easy and there were many dark days with non stop chatter going on; thankfully they are in the past! Your writing is beautiful.

Thank you so much, Moira! I think anyone who steps off the hamster wheel, for whatever reason, struggles with feelings of value and self-worth. Until they realize that what they’ve done is reach a new level of freedom, and there’s nothing to feel guilty about in that! 😊💕

If only we can all stop the feeling of guilt and just be. Great poem.
